Did You Make It To The Milky Way

Milky Way

Such a good song. Anyways, here is one of my better attempts at geometric nails. I used a special nail art brush with shorter bristles and the lines turned out very clean and even. I already have more ideas in the works. The blue you see is Essence Choose Me. The plain black is Sinful Colors Black on Black.  The gunmetal glitter (which I loveeeee) is O.P.I. Metallic 4 Life.  Finally, the lovely pink glitter is Hard Candy Fabuluxe. I love the contrast of the girly and regal Fabuluxe with Metallic.  Almost like punk meets princess with some mermaid turquoise for good measure. Here is a close up:

What about some good lighting shots?

Ahhh. I love it. Glittery and fashionable, but not “in your face” loud. The perfect combination for today!

What do you think of these?

You Gotta Strut Like You Mean It

Anyone else remember that awesome cheetah girls song? No? I digress. This cool cheetah print over a glitter and a sheer nude creates an interesting contrast. My nails were flashy and interesting in the best possible way. To make this look I did a base of Essie No Pre-Nup on all of my nails except for my middle. The middle fingers are Milani Violet Dash. All nails then get a coat of Pure ICE Cheatin. After that the middle finger is done after a good top coat, and the rest of the fingers went on to get some awesome animal print. I alternated the colors on which were the dabs and which were the outlines, but the pink (the awesome awesome glittery liquid diamond sparkle amazingness that I can’t wait to play with more) is Hard Candy Fabuluxe (so true. So fabulous, and so Luxe) and the metallic blue is Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist. Isn’t it fabulous? More eye candy? Why sure. Here you go!

Le sigh. Maybe I am getting my groove back

When In Doubt, Cheetah It Out!

Thats my new life motto. I think it’ll work. It combines my love of nail polish with  my love of glitter with my love of animal print. Plus, I know how to nail it. This way, I can’t doubt my nails, and I’m left with at least one for sure thing in my crazy life. Using my base of Essie No Pre-Nup and Zoya Maisie, I made my pretty nails something to brighten my day.

Funk

I have been in a funk lately. A full on, doubtful, funk. This has affected me everywhere-especially my nails. No bueno. When you’re doubting your abilities to do a decent nail job, something’s wrong. So while I’m trying to work it out, im leaving my nails a very sheer color with tons of sparkle that changes Colors in the light. Sometime later today I’ll add on some nice cheetah print and hopefully be back to feeling like myself. Here is Essie No Pre-Nup and Zoya Maisie.
Maisie
Changes colors all the time! She goes from yellow to blue to green. At night, when it’s dark and I’m using my cell phone she even looks purple. It makes me happy.

Six Minute Summer Mani

This 5 step mani will have your nails summer ready in no time (seriously!). All you need are two bright, contrasting summer colors, a glitter that matches one of the colors, a quick dry, and a Matte top coat. For this mani I used
-my nameless yellow Color Club
Essie Funny Face
Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter
Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love
Orly Sec ‘N Dry
1)
On all fingers except your ring, paint the bright color that doesn’t have the matching glitter. In my case, it was yellow. Do two coats, sandwhiching the contrasting color between them to give a few seconds of dry time.
2) Paint the other Color onto the ring finger (in my case, pink)
3) Paint the glitter on top of the ring finger.
4) On all of the yellow, do a coat of matte. In some cases you may need two, but this dries super fast so that takes another 20 seconds, max
5) Paint the quick dry over the glitter.
There you go! An awesome summer six minute Mani :]

*if matte isn’t your thing, then just use a really good quick dry over all of your nails. Then it’s a 4 step mani :]

Three Times The Triangle

Say that three times fast.

Image

These were inspired by pinterest! Its two coats of Essie Funny Face. Then I used my small nail art brush to draw triangles in the middle with China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. Then I took my Finger Paints Black Expressionism and outlined the glitter triangle, and followed up with my lavender nameless Color Club. Finally, on my middle finger and thumb I Took China Glaze Devotion and did a fourth triangle, just to add some contrast. While the colors are bright, I feel like the overall look was very sophisticated. Muy Bueno!

sorry about the picks. I took the pictures the next day in order to get better lighting. I kinda picked them… ahah. What do you think?

Not Your Everyday Ombre

Image

You see, normal ombre’s use two colors. Three at the most. This one, my friends, uses five. And boy, was it lovely. I felt like I was diving into the ocean every time i glanced at my nails. I also think this technique could be used for some really fun designs and contrast- like instead on going straight up, what about coming from a corner and spreading out diagonally? Or using different colors, or repeating them! I came to this idea when I was driving home, so I can’t wait to play with it some more.

Anyways, the five colors in order from lightest to darkest on my nails

Orly Jealous, Much?

Finger Paints Inkblot Blue

Nicole By O.P.I Blue Lace

Finger Paints Art You Blue? ( its the denim I talked about in galaxy nails!)

Orly Stone Cold

Le sigh. I really can’t wait to experiment more with this. Want more eye candy? Of course you do.Image

Hustle Love

LA Girls Disco Brite is a polish that Ive been buying for years. Its one of those you buy at the counters of places where you buy tight shirts and feather earrings, and actually end up being surprisingly nice for a $2.60 polish. The particular one I am enjoying is Hustle, a true grape purple. My friend decided to pair the grape with Color Club in hot, neon pink.  Its a great, bright color combination, especially when the two are marbled. and then topped with some glitter from O.P.I. Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It.  NMBI is a lovely sheer pink glitter thats packed with tons of sparkle and (wait for it….) hearts! SO cute! I actually used the hearts to go in the middle of the heart I drew on the middle finger, which spells out Love. Excited? Prepare for awesomeness.

So, one bad thing about my fabulous top coat Seche Vite is that it makes the polish extra shiny. Horrible, right? The shininess + my cameras flash means you can’t see the awesome detail of the marbling, in real life the nails are so much more insane and gorgeous. Pretty, right?

So fabulous. So much love!

Impress-ive

This past Sunday I went to the diamondbacks game with my mother, and as we were walking in a lady was handing out free samples of the imPress fake nails. She gave my mom and I each two sets, which means I now have four sets of fake nails to play with! Well, three now. Because I’m Wearing one of them! The nails were super easy to apply, and look great. They aren’t that long either, I had to file my thumb a bit to be sure it wouldn’t poke out under the fake nail. I put them on yesterday, and they’re still going strong today, so for free this brand is actually pretty nice! I would recommend trying them out if you need hot nails and don’t have time to doctor your real ones up! They even come with designs already on them.
Anyways, so the kind I have on don’t have designs on them, so I had to do that myself! The color they came in is a nice subtle magenta, so I thought colors of gold, silver, and black would accent them nicely. On my index and ring finger we have plaid, and on my pinkie, middle, and thumb we have cheetah print. My nails look so cool!

what do you think? Are you into fake nails? Would you use them for the length and design them yourself, or buy pre-designed ones
