Did You Know

That Size Matters?According to Essie it does. Readers, meet my new go to polish for any occasion that calls for sexy and mature nails. I really really love this polish. And the name. The gold and orange are just to spice things up.

That’s right, Lauren Conrad. As in nails inspired by her. Which turned out fabulous. To make these pretty, clean cut nails we used Orly Jealous, Much?, Sally Hansen Crinoline, Julep Oscar , O.P.I. Bling Dynasty, and Love & Beauty in gold. Even though that sounds like a lot of polish, you can’t really tell by looking at her nails. They just look fresh and girlie (and awesome).

Aren’t they fabulous? My friend adores them, I adore them, and I think we accomplished the goal we set out with. Go nails!

Riveting Indeed

Hmm. It appears a habit is forming. I feel like the last few times I have posted I’ve been in math class… Today just continues that trend! The nails I’m showing you today are a gradient using two extremely shimmery China Glaze polishes, Riveting and 108 Degrees. Once I did them, my eyes just were glued. I think today is the third day I’ve rocked them, and for me that’s a long time. Especially considering I don’t plan on changing them until they chip. Horribly.
With these nails I feel like this is the best gradient I have done in a really long time. Everything is blended and smooth and I just can’t. Stop. Staring. See for yourself.

All of it was topped off with imb Northern Lights just to add some extra sparkle. I did two coats, and maybe the small holographic flecks are another reason I think my nails look extra blended and pretty. They go crazyyy in the sunlight. I tried to capture it, but I don’t know if any pictures can truly capture the amazingness of this manicure.

So much prettiness

School Spirit

I am currently lying in my bed right now preparing for my insanely busy day. My school plays its first home football game today, and I am fortunate enough to be able to be an observer on the sidelines. Which requires me to arrive 6 hours before the game and probably won’t come back to my dorm at all today. I’ll be busy slaving away. Ahah.
With that being said I have two school spirit nails I did in honor of my college. The first set I did on my friends a while back just because, and the second set are the nails I’m currently sporting. Go team ūüôā

Like I said, I am in bed. Therefore I have no idea what polishes I used for these. Just enjoy the prettiness and wish NAU luck today!

GlitterFest

No actual nail art today, but I feel like my nails are so sparkly that they count as nail art. Seriously, it’s just a crazy pretty sparkle fear happening anytime there is any sort of light near my nails. It’s awesome.
For these glitters I used two from the Milani Jewel FX collection, Hot Pink and Teal. I actually have another one from the collection as well, and next chance I get all three of those suckers will be layered over a white or grey. I’m so excited. But until then, I’m left with a somewhat tamed (wink wink) glitterfest, which has been layered over Piggy Polish Strong Like Jazz and Orly Lucky Duck

5 Minute Quickie

So these really are a quick five minute Mani…. Just divided between two days. I was super tired last night, so I just slapped on some base coat and covered my nails in China Glaze Shower Together and Essie Super Bossa Nova. Then some quick dry polish, and I was off to bed. Then, this morning when I had some spare time getting ready I just grabbed my nail art pen and doodled away! I had been wanting to try cheetah print like this for a while, and though I’m glad I got it out of my system, I definitely like it more when there colors in the middle. It’s more fun.

Can I Get An Aztec?

Yawnnn. I’m up way to early, it’s 50 degrees out, and I really don’t want to go to class yet. So I’ll kill some time by showing you guys the awesome tribal Mani did on the girl next door. She only wanted one tribal finger on each hand, and for them to be different. I used Essie Braziliant, Orly Jealous, Much?, and Barielle Wool You Marry Me. Everything was then topped off with some of INM Northern Lights, which is a quick dry topcoat that has holographic shimmer in it. So fun.
Now this is her right hand…20120912-072157.jpg20120912-072202.jpg
And this is her left!

The left is my favorite. I love how detailed I got it to look. Do you have a favorite? Are tribal nails your thing?

18 & Fabulous

Well, I am officially 18. Happy birthday to me! To celebrate this (apparently its kind of a big deal), I’m doing my nails as nice as can be. They need to look fabulous when I start my classes tomorrow (!!). So, these pinterest inspired nails use four polishes. China Glaze Gothic Lolita, China Glaze Shower Together, Sinful Colors Nail Junkie , and Kiss nail art paint in pink. I think these are a twist of geometric and tribal, and I’m enjoying it. They’ll go well with my safari dress I’m wearing tomorrow. What do you think?

Sorry they are slightly messy, I didn’t have time to clean them up. I’ll do that later though… It’s nap time!

Easy Breezy Beautiful… Clouds

Like I promised, here is the tutorial on the cloud mani! The pictures are pretty self explanatory, but I’ll add words to make it easier for all of you. Aren’t I nice? ūüôā

Step One: Do two coats of a base color. Unless you’re using a super-saturated polish, go gradient-style and do your coats light to dark. That way you don’t have to worry about the color underneath it showing through.

Step Two: Grab your second polish and give the bottle a good shake. Then, take the brush out and wipe off some of the excess polish on the inside rim of the bottle. Leave enough to get a thick round shape when you start to paint the cloud. If you are using a thick rectangular brush, turn it sideways so the skinny side is what touches your nail. That way you get the rounded edge.

Step Three: Paint on three dashes starting at different points mid-nail and going to the tip. The first one (the farthest left) should be the longest, the second the middle length, and the third the shortest. Take your time with your strokes, that way you get a good think stripe.

Step Four: Wait a few minutes for the stripes to dry, then grab your third polish and do steps two and three again. This time, make sure the dashes stay within the shape of the first dashes (don’t go past where the second polish is, and leave room for it to show!). Finish with a good top coat.

See? How simple and easy is that! Look at two pictures at the bottom of this post, that should help more if the words and above picture doesn’t make everything crystal clear. If you need more help or a clarification, please feel free to leave a question in the comments or email me at glittericiousnails@live.com. I love hearing from you guys! (which also means to let me know if you enjoy this cloud mani as much as I do!)

A Mermaids Tale: Lucky Duck!

I have officially re-fallen in love with Orly. Their creams are so creamy and their glitters are so sparkly. When they are combined, its an ultimate win. Using Orly Lucky Duck, Orly Mermaid Tale, Finger Paints Inkblot Blue, and O.P.I. Top Of My World, I created a nail-gradient sparkle fest. Her pinkie and pointer finger are gradients from the teal to blue with Top of My Worldover it, and the other fingers have Lucky Duck under Mermaid Tale. Its not as obnoxious as the nails in my last post are, but they definitely are fun to look at.  Especially the close up!!

Cool, no?

Now I am going to try something for the first time… a poll! If you read this blog, please share your opinion so I can see if they are a worthwhile tool! I can then use them to figure out which way I want to do my nails when I’m stuck, or see what kind of designs you guys like best. Now go vote and make me one happy blogger! ūüôā

*oops. I just realized the background of the poll was skulls… ignore that!
